When do you open?
We are open 7 days a week year round, except on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Our hours are 9 AM to 8 PM daily during the summer months, beginning Memorial Day weekend. During the winter months, beginning around Sept. 4th, the hours are 9 AM to 5 PM daily. All tours begin at 10AM and close at dusk as our aquarium is lit by natural sunlight.

How much does a tour cost?
Our prices are $16.95 for adults and children ages 12 and up. For children ages 3 – 11, the rate is $10.95. Children 2 and under are free. Sorry, but we do not offer senior discounts. Visit our Guided Tours Page for a 10% printable discount coupon.

We also offer group tour rates for SCHOOL groups and other large groups of 20 or more of $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children. This rate only applies when booked at least two weeks in advance, and there are at least 20 paying patrons (free children under the age of 2 do not count as a paid patron.) Group tours cannot be booked through email but must be called in at 707-464-4900 to make arrangements. Please note that we cannot accommodate group tours during major holidays, peak summer season, or holiday weekends. Discount coupons cannot be applied to group tour rates.

Wasn’t the aquarium in Crescent City called Undersea World?
Yes. In fact when the aquarium was originally located in the harbor beginning in 1964 we were called Under Sea Gardens. When the aquarium was moved to land in 1985 the name was changed to Undersea World. Another large aquarium did not like this name¸ so we changed it to Ocean World.

Do I have to take a guided tour?
Your experience here at Ocean World revolves around our interactive guided tours. This feature separates us from most aquariums in that trained staff present life from our ocean world in an educational and entertaining way. (Besides, the extreme danger in shark petting should only be attempted with a trained guide!) Furthermore, a trained guide is needed to signal our seals during our fun Seal show.

Can large groups come to Ocean World?
Of course! If you have a group larger than 20 people and you call 707-464-4900 at least two weeks before you  come we can give you a reduced group rate. You will get a private tour for your group and will not have to wait to start when you get here. We can also send educational material to teachers who want to do related classroom activities before your visit. Sorry, no private tours or group discounts will be given during major holidays and holiday weekends.
